John Weisbarth An Emmy-winning reporter for Channel 4 San Diego, John Weisbarth brings his high energy and an award-winning style to his role as co-host of Prime Time Padres Spring Training 2005, giving viewers an inside look at the Padres training camp in Peoria, Ariz. Weisbarth will also co-host the pre-game show Prime Time Padres during the 2005 season. Weisbarth joined Channel 4 San Diego in 2000 as a reporter for UT High School Sports, which earned him an Emmy nomination. Since then, his credits have included Prime Time Padres, San Diego Insider Magazine, Aztecs Sports Weekly, Chargers Preview, and CIF high school playoffs. In 2002, Weisbarth was honored with an Emmy Award in the Sports Report/Feature category for “Bowling with Johnny Midnight,” a story which ran on Chargers Preview. Most recently, he was part of Channel 4 Super Bowl, 10 days of round-the-clock coverage leading up to Super Bowl XXXVII. Prior to joining Channel 4 San Diego, Weisbarth worked as a reporter at XTRA Sports 690 AM in San Diego. With humble beginnings as an intern answering phones, he worked his way onto the airwaves, and by the end of his tenure was doing “drive time” sports updates and co-hosting the nightly XTRA Sports Hour. A San Diego native, Weisbarth attended Coronado High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1998.
