Dennis Morgigno
A broadcast journalist since 1974, Dennis Morgigno oversees day-to-day operations at Channel 4
San Diego, serving as Station Manager and Programming Host.
After serving as anchor and editorial consultant for The Cox Convention Connexion coverage during the 1996 Republican National Convention, Morgigno was part of the Cox team that created Channel 4 San Diego and the groundbreaking
Padres television package in 1997. In 1998 and again in 2003, he helped create and host Channel 4 Super Bowl, Channel 4 San Diego’s innovative partnership with the NFL for Super Bowls XXXII and XXXVII. Also in 1998, Morgigno
created San Diego Insider, the region’s only regularly scheduled news magazine. The show earned him Emmy awards in 1999, 2000 and 2001, and Golden Mikes in 2001, 2002 and 2003. He was promoted to Station Manager of Channel 4
San Diego in January 2001.
Raised in California’s Central Valley, Morgigno served as a news anchor and reporter with the NBC television affiliate in Fresno after working as a reporter at the Merced Sun-Star daily newspaper. Morgigno came to San Diego in 1978 as a reporter
and anchor for what was then KCST-TV Channel 39. He has also worked at KUSI-TV, and in Los Angeles at KTTV-TV Channel 11.
Morgigno built and managed the Media Centers for the America’s Cup events in San Diego in 1988, 1991 and 1992. Following the 1992 yachting finals, he traveled to Barcelona, the site of the 1992 Summer Olympics, to produce a travel
book for English-speaking visitors to the Olympics. Working for corporate client AT&T, Morgigno also produced video shorts about U.S. athletes competing there.
