Bill Geppert

Bill Geppert is Vice President and General Manager of Cox Communications in San Diego, the largest cable system in California and the fifth largest in the nation. The system currently serves over 700,000 customers throughout 19 communities and employs over 2,000 employees in the San Diego region. The company is a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Cox Communications, Inc. (NYSE:COX).

Born and raised in Cumberland, Maryland, Geppert attended high school at Culver Military Academy for three years and graduated from Mercersburg Academy, Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science, University of South Florida at Tampa.

With more than 20 years of operating experience in the communications industry, Geppert served as Managing Director of Cable North West, the United Kingdom’s fastest-growing digital, broadband cable-telephone system. The operation was a partnership between Cox Communications and Southwestern Bell. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and General Manager of Cox¹s cable system in New Orleans. Geppert joined Cox from Time, Inc., where he managed operations in Tampa and Lakeland, Florida.

He is currently Chairman of the California Cable Television Association and Chairman of the CEO Roundtable here in San Diego. He currently is Chairman of the Board of Directors of The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and serves on the boards of the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego State University Communications Council, San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, and San Diego International Sports Council. He is also a member of the City of San Diego Science and Technology Committee, and is Co-Chair for the EDC Workforce/Education Committee.

In addition to his community involvement, Geppert also is an avid golfer and enjoys snow skiing.

He and his wife, the former Amy Harbin, have two children: Katie and Will.
