If you were listening to the broadcast tonight, you heard Mud hang the nickname "Secret Pop" on Sledge. What do you, the fans, think of the new moniker?
I like "Secret Pop" as the new nickname for Tremell. Keep it up guy's......no matter what the UT Radio/TV Guy says. This is Baseball, it is supposed to be FUN. You guys make it fun to watch.
To anybody who doesnt like matt or mud need to get a sence of humor. they are what keep pads baseball fun to watch even when the pads are getting there (_)_) kicked like tonight. long live matty v and mud grant.
I like Sledge Hammer. Perhaps some Peter Gabriel in the background when hes up to bat. Although, if Secret Pop catches on, he may be able to cash in on a sweet deal as a popcorn spokesman. It'll do, Mud. It'll do.
Guys, listen up, its early in the year, but I can't believe you don't see it....... Termell's nickname is Sledge Hammer.......... like the song "yow! sledge..... hammer".... Barbs
As usual, you guys make the game so much more fun. Not too many people would come up with something like this. I like it. Let's see some more "Secret Pop"!
...and how about "Ya cuzzi" when Kouzmanoff gets a dinger?
Boooo on "SledgeHammer" - it's too obvious and too easy. It's what a team like the Giants would use (if one pretends they have the managerial ability to sit down and order a pizza, let alone decide on a player's nickname)!
pretii smooth mud! i like it...SECRET POP. short, simple, and fun....much more flavor than the name SLEDGEHAMMER...kinda boring dont u think.... STICK WITH IT! SECRET POP... and a pretty sweet call mudd.
Love the secret pop name, but want to draw your attention to "Mrs. Doubtfire" behind home plate to the left as we TV hounds can see it. It's an incredible resemblence to Robin Williams. My husband, Mark, pointed it out in the first inning and we've been chuckling ever since. Tooo Funny!
Yeah secret pop is really flashy and really cool, but if you are secret pop you gotta hit home runs more consistently. For now lets keep it with Termel "Expos" Sledgehammer
I think the name secret pop is really flashy and really cool, but to have that name you got to hit better on a consistent basis. Till then lets keep it Termel "Expos" Sledgehammer. Adam
Sitting in the Park in the Park tonight, my siblings and I heard the Secret Pop call, and we all laughed about it. Right before his home run, I called out "Secret Pop!" and the ball went out. I love listening to Matt and Mud. Secret Pop is a great name for Sledge.
It would only make sense to call him THE SLEDGEHAMMER. You can't let that last name go to waste and call him something else. Or just call him HAMMER for short to avoid the "predictable" factor. I've also got a new name for Barry Bonds. Ready? GUMMI "BARRY"! Why? Because he's full of that GUMMI "BARRY" JUICE! If you know what I mean! How about creating a blog for that name or making this a vote on our cable remotes?
Sledgehammer is best. Like was posted earlier, he already has a song they could play when he steps up to the plate. Secret pop is good, but you can save that name for someone else.
Secret Pop all the way... Sledgehammer is to typical and predictable. Secret Pop implies that Sledgy is our Secret Weapon... which he's shown us that he can be!!
Original and fun, like 'ol time nicknames that DO NOT riff off given sur names. Let's hope we hear Mud scream "Secret Pop!" 20 or so times this year!!! Now let's get going!
When i watch Atlanta braves TBS baseball the announcers are very boring. Then you guys doing the padre games... you may say some stupid things but it always makes me and my brother laugh we learned to appricate you guys because you're very unpredictable and very funny and yes i like the new nickname.
hey matt and mudd, i like the secret pop nickname for sledge. i'm watching the game today. peavy just got a base-knock and i think i've got a good one for peavy. he is such a competitor, he can pitch, he can bat, he's... MR. PADRE!!!
tell me what you guys think on the broadcast if you can.
thanks guys
matt, carmel valley
p.s. mudd, lets hit up that valley view buffet! haha

I like it! It fits Sledge well as his power shows it's unexpectedly!
What else does Mud Kitty have up his sleeve this year? ;-)
By Beee_Rad, At April 6, 2007 8:26 PM
After hitting the home run I think "secret pop" is going to stick, and I love it
By matt_rennick, At April 6, 2007 8:26 PM
I am digging the moniker "Secret Pop"! That was a monster mash by secret pop. If Sledge hammers a few more like that, the secret will be out...
By Celtic_puck, At April 6, 2007 8:26 PM
I like that name. mark grant is a genious.
By JOHN, At April 6, 2007 8:26 PM

Secret Pop! I like it!!!
Add that to the list!(The Sledge Hammer)
By SiNuHe, At April 6, 2007 8:27 PM
I like "Secret Pop"! I think it's unique and it certainly fits the less than robust Sledge. Let's see if it's a season long fit? I hope so!
By aztecjm, At April 6, 2007 8:27 PM
Close, but not quite. Too soon to call him Sledgehammer, but it's a good name to aspire to.
By OceanBeachBarfly, At April 6, 2007 8:30 PM
It is a really good name. I dont why it just is.

By Barbs, At April 6, 2007 8:33 PM
I like Sledgehammer better. Sledge swings a very heavy bat, so Sledgehammer makes sense for his name and his swing.
By campy, At April 6, 2007 8:34 PM
Just call him "the secret sledge hammer". so it can please everybody.
By JOHN, At April 6, 2007 8:35 PM
Guys.......thats cool but how about " Little Poppi"
By WILKEY, At April 6, 2007 8:36 PM
He needs to be named after the Peter Gabriel song Sledge hammer. he can come out to that song.
By Barbs, At April 6, 2007 8:36 PM
SLEDGEHAMMER is better. Sledge swings a heavy bat too, so not only does it work with his name, but it fits his swing too.
By campy, At April 6, 2007 8:37 PM
I like SLEDGEHAMMER as well. Secret Pop seems a little silly.
By Capt. Kirk, At April 6, 2007 8:37 PM
I'm sorry, but SLEDGEHAMMER and SECRET POP are horrible, Sorry Mark : ( Sledgy is much better. For Adrian I like A-Gone, so happy we locked him up.

By Linda, At April 6, 2007 9:12 PM
I'll let you i n on a real secret. This team doesn't win it all again this year.
By Giovanni, At April 6, 2007 9:26 PM

reminds you of the good ol days with the classic nicknames.
none of this "g-dog" nonsense.

Sledgehammer is way too predictable.
But speaking of nicknames... how about "Paul McAkruckie"? for out favorite future Nutra-System spokesman?
By Vir Speluncae Catholicus, At April 7, 2007 6:10 AM
it has to be sledgehammer. add that to the inflatable shillelagh, and you have a classic.
By Jeff, At April 7, 2007 11:38 AM
I love Secret Pop and think you should keep it around all season. The broadcast was fun yesterday and you guys ROCK!! Keep up the good work.

I think "secret pop" makes sense. I also think that "G" Force fits well for Giles, Giles and Gonzalez!
By jrmckechnie, At April 7, 2007 9:07 PM
I'd prefer to hear the term "G" Force to describe Giles, Giles and Gonzalez!
By jrmckechnie, At April 7, 2007 11:24 PM
go with pop secret that way sledge can get a lifetime supply of popcorn. mud needs to talk to scott kaplan for make believe marketing.
By Hayley, At April 8, 2007 11:17 AM
Secret Pop is cool, but it doesn't relate to Termel. It could be used on anyone, like Jose Cruz.
Termel's nickname should be
Sledgehammer!!!
By Richard Cornelius, At April 8, 2007 11:38 AM
I like G Forces for the Giles Brother and Gonzalez!
By Willy, At April 8, 2007 12:43 PM

By bryan, At April 9, 2007 11:10 AM
It's cool. He needs to tie in "Pop goes Termel" (in Harry Carey voice)when he goes yard.
Got another one for Grant. Kevin Kousmanoff needs to be called "K-Kou"...as in "Cuckoo". He'll know how to say it...
By Vike Mike, At April 9, 2007 2:34 PM
