Mud not Mudd

You might be wondering, why is there a picture of ladies shoes on this blog? Well, Mark Grant asked me to tackle a very important subject to him. His name.

Mud has read some of the comments and wanted me to address the way his name has been spelled. Many of you have offered comments and suggestions to or about "Mudd." Our own analyst wanted me to pass along that his name is "Mud" while "Mudd" are jeans.

So, Mud wants to remind everyone, "when you think Mudd, think great fittin' jeans...."

"...and when you think Mud, think one great guy."

Yes that's a direct quote. As always, sorry.

  • Below is a letter we sent to Mud a few years ago. We ment it then and we still feel the same way.

    Dear Mark,

I am a Padres season ticket holder and I try to attend as many games with my wife Adele as possible. Just last night we were at the game vs. the Seattle Mariners. Upon arriving at our seats we found a nice couple that traveled down from Seattle to see their team play have a short vacation. After striking up a friendly conversation the husband mentioned to me that he watched the Friday game on TV from his friends home. The guy said something that raised my eyebrows. He said, “I wish we had your guys on channel 4 on the Seattle station that broadcasts our games”. He said you were talking about the floppy hat that he had just received and said he almost cried from laughing so hard. He mentioned that the Seattle guys were as bland as vanilla and he really enjoyed you and Matt. (Especially you) After thinking about that for a few minutes, I remember mentioning to my wife that I enjoyed going to the games but I missed the commentary on channel 4. She agreed.

Thank you for the great job that you do. You make watching the games extremely enjoyable. Even when we loose, and as you know, that has happened all too much this season, you and Matt make for a fun evening at home.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Mud.....he's one great guy! When I think of Mud, I think of buffet, not that that's a bad thing. I never met one I didn't like.
Hey Mud Man, in the last telecast vs the Dogs, you mentioned that Jonathan Broxton looked like Charlie Kerfeld. Sorry, I didn't see it, plus there were no ribs. Maybe if you stuck a half a rack in Broxton's mitt he might resemble him.

Where can I get one of those shillelagh hats? I already have a pointer.

Keep in touch with yourself my friend !

  • Matt and Mud rule. The show is hilarious. So who is the wet blanket who recently replaced Matt on road trip to Florida and Atlanta. Had to turn down the sound to watch the game. The guy is not funny. At all. Why don't Matt and Mud do the whole season?

  • Mark,

I have been trying to find a "Shilalie" hat like yours for long time. Would you please tell me where you bought yours?

    Love your game coverage.
