Has Hockey Suit Been Retired?
For those of you who are faithful Channel 4 viewers, first of all, thank you. Second, what has happened to one of the biggest catch phrases from the broadcast? I forgot to put and over/under number on the number of times Mud says "hockey suit" on The Official Matt and Mud Prediction post.Is anyone else wondering where "Hockey Suit!" has gone? Has it gone the way of an in-shape

Where was Mud drafted again? I've forgotten after 18,169 times of hearing him say it.
And this was obviously before they let him have any of the post-game spread...ah, the benefits of being a full-time big leaguer.

I dunno, really. I always liked hearing Mark scream out Hockey Suit and all the other things those two goofballs yell. They make the broadcast fun to watch, winning or losing and I'm really glad we have them here. I love you guys and bring back the Hockey Suit!

I like the fact that people always think it's "hockey soup." That just conjures up some seriously disturbing images...

What does 'Hockey Suit' refer to? I assume it has something to do with an ice hockey goalie.
BTW... Hensley's bunt throw to Marcus Giles at first was a great play. Every time I see the second baseman have to reach towards the runner I think about Roberto Alomar's season ending injury on a smiliar play. I believe Robbie broke his arm. I'm surprised mud didn't mention it -- though he may not have been with the Padres that year (was it 88? or 89?).

Hockey Suit!
On Marcus Giles' first inning up-the-middle single, Mud called out Hockey Suit.
He must have seen this post...

on another subject, The reason I heard that they throw baseball out that hit the dirt near the plate as opposed to basehits is that the dirt by the plate is almost like clay and it scuffs the ball a little more Mark.

I dunno about "hockey suit", but I never get tired of Mud's saying after every single opposing team's checked swings:
"AWWWWWW! If he hits that, it's a double!"
I've timed it so now I can say it along with him as I watch, it never fails! :)

I heard him say it tonight, Mud cracks me up every time. I also like "last chance" very funny.

Mud is the best color commentator in the business. He could have given lessons to Ed McMann. : )
I've lived in NYC, Miami, and So Cal. I grew up hearing some of the best in the business calling home runs for players the likes of Mickey Mantle and Roger Marris. Matt and Mud are the best I've ever heard.
If you don't hold their looks against them, there the best. : )
