The Friendly Confines

The Padres are at Wrigley Field tonight and that means Matt and Mark are at their favorite ballpark in the big leagues.
I asked them for their 3 favorite parks in the game and this is how their lists go.
Matt
1) Wrigley Field
2) Safeco Field
3) Dodger Stadium
Mud
1) Wrigley Field
2) Fenway Park
3) PNC Park
This is always a fun topic to debate so let us know in the comments. What are your favorite parks? How do you feel about Matt and Mud's lists?

Matt,
I agree with you regarding Fenway and I grew up a Sox fan. But by the same token you put Dodger Stadium in your top three. A great seating bowl and beautiful place to watch the game (I was in the very top row of the top deck centered on homeplate last night). But the bathrooms, concessions, etc are horrible along with the people. Did anybody see this on you tube?

Nice Dodger Fans, way to go. Isn't it wonderful that we are such cool hosts at PETCO for all the teams that travel well.

Matt, if you think Fenway Park is a dump, you should maybe go back to late night broadcasting of dog shows and poker tournaments.

I've only been to Petco, Qualcomm and Angels Stadium, so I can't really by experience, but my favorites are Wrigley Field, Busch Stadium and AT&T Park. Wrigley for nostalgia, Busch because of the awesome presence of their fans (always seems like a field of red there. Talk about home field advantage!) and AT&T Park because it seems like something out of a video game with the Coke Bottle and the short right field side.
Matt, I'd like to know why you think Safeco's such a good one? Except for the train passing by during the game, that place seems like one of the most boring places this side of Tropicana.

One thing about tonight's game: this is where Matt & Mudd earn their money! It's one thing to broadcast behind Peavy when odds are the Padres will win. And another when doing the job behind Maddux and Wells when they have so much history to go over. But when it's a blowout like tonight's game, they've got to do their best to keep us entertained and still keep us around a game like this.

I haven't been to many ballparks, but Petco is my favorite. I like the history of Dodger Stadium, but it seems like the atmosphere isn't as friendly as it was in the '70s and '80s.
In the minors, I love the facilities at Lake Elsinore and Sacramento, as well as the new park in Stockton.

Considering that I've seen tons of ballparks, I'd be curious to know where Great American Ball Park and Turner Field rank on Matt and Mud's lists. Great American has a lot of cool features and sightlines, and is near Cincinnati's downtown area, with lots of restaurants and bars.
Now I just need to get to Petco...

I really like two out of threeMuds selections. Fenway is such a cool ballpark because of the rich history it maintains. The dimensions with the Green Monster, weird angles, and short foul poul down the right field line compliment the stadium real well. The other selection I'm fond of is PNC Park, in my opinion, the most beautiful ball park in the Majors. I love the view, the bridge, and the constant ships from the Allegeny. Left field looks strikingly similar to the Western Metal Building. Love the topic

We experienced the "new" Busch Stadium last September. It's crisp. Will B is right: it's IS a sea of red. The fans were polite to us as we proudly wore our Padres jerseys. (The Padres won 2 of 3 that week, and we had a great 'road trip' experience.) We have seats at AT&T in Septmebr of 2007, so we can then add that to the comparison formula.
Thanks to all you guys,

A couple of years ago, I went to the "BOB" (Bank One Ballpark) in Phoenix, AZ. My seats weren't bad, but everything else was. It must have been 80 degrees in there and it was dark and uncomfortable. The whole experience was pretty bad and I wouldn't ever return. I'm a lifelong San Diegan and I much rather go to PetCo.
