A SALUTE TO TEACHERS
The historic and newly renovated Balboa Theater in downtown San Diego was the setting for the 18th annual Cox Presents: A Salute to Teachers brought to you by Ashford University. Five new County Teachers of the Year were announced during the live awards show on September 20th. The newly crowned teachers are:
- Theodosia Ballard, Porter Elementary School, San Diego Unified School District
- Patty Blome, San Ysidro High School, Sweetwater Union High School District
- Alex Kajitani, Mission Middle School, Escondido Union School District
- Bill Kvitli, Valley Center Primary School, Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District
- Tom Waldron, Valhalla High School, Grossmont Union High School District
San Diego County school districts nominated 43 of their best and brightest teachers in competition for the County Teacher of the Year award. The black-tie, Academy Awards-style event honors all of the county’s 26,000 public school teachers.
